Visa On Arrival (VOA) Extension

EverestindoVisa & Stay PermitVisa On Arrival (VOA) Extension

If you are entering Indonesia using the Visa on Arrival and plan to spend more than 30 days in the country, then you will need to obtain a Visa on Arrival Extension.

Visa On Arrival (VOA) Extension – Who is it for and what are the benefits?

To summarise the Visa on Arrival allows foreigners to enter Indonesia without making a pre-organised visa, such as a Single Entry Visa. Upon entry to Indonesia, you pay US$35 / IDR 500,000 and you are granted 30 days in the country. If you would like to extend your stay, you will need to process an extension, that provides an additional 30 days’ stay.

To process your extension, you can do it yourself or you can work with InvestInAsia who can simplify the process. If you do choose to process your extension yourself, here are the steps:

  • Visit your local immigration office and drop off your passport.
  • Return to immigration offices once they have processed the extension for a quick biometric session.
  • Return to the immigration office again to collect your passport.

Note: The process can take up to 14 days and is very time-consuming considering the 3 trips to immigration, navigating the office and queueing.

4 Steps to Extend Your Visa on Arrival (VoA)

  • Provide original passport and arrival ticket.
  • Your passport will be sent to the immigration office which will authorise a 30-day extension.
  • Once the extension has been granted, the applicant will need to go to the Immigration office for a biometric session.
  • The passport will be returned to the applicant within 3 working days.

Frequently Asked Questions

A Visa on Arrival (VOA) is a visa that is granted to a foreign national upon arrival at a port of entry in a country. VOAs are typically issued for short-term stays, such as tourism or business meetings.

Foreign nationals usually need to satisfy specific criteria, including possessing a valid passport, a return ticket, and evidence of ample funds, in order to secure a VOA (Visa on Arrival). They may also need to complete an application form and pay a visa fee.

Once the foreign national has met all of the requirements, they will be issued a VOA at the port of entry. The VOA will typically be valid for a certain period of time, such as 30 days or 60 days. During this time, the foreign national may stay in the country and travel freely.

There are several benefits to obtaining a VOA, including:

1. Convenience
VOAs can be obtained quickly and easily at the port of entry, without the need to apply for a visa in advance.

2.Flexibility
VOAs are typically valid for a longer period of time than other types of visas, such as tourist visas. This gives travelers more flexibility to change their travel plans.

3. Affordability
VOA fees are typically less expensive than other types of visa fees.

The Indonesian government has announced that it will resume issuing Visa on Arrival (VOA) to citizens of certain countries from March 7, 2023.

The VOA will be valid for 30 days and can be extended for another 30 days upon request to a local Immigration Office in Indonesia (charge may be applied)
